Migraines in American Women

Migraine is a very bad headache that tends to recur. And having a day with migraine, is a very bad day that you may feel nauseated and might vomit. You may feel that the pain is usually on one side of your head and some of its causes is that you may be very sensitive to bright lights and noises. Moving around can make your headache feel worse.

More than 28 million American women get migraines, but only 3% to 5% of them seek prevention or preventive therapy. In fact American women are prone to have migraines than to have type 2 diabetes, osteoarthritis, or asthma. So say Beverly Tozer, MD, and colleagues at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Ariz. “Almost one-fourth of women in their reproductive years experience migraines,” Tozer says, in a Mayo Clinic news release. “During these years, women are building both their families and their careers,” Tozer notes, calling migraines “an important issue in women’s health.”
